When 2B: Dave Ackerman was lost for the season due to post concussion syndrome it opened the door for playing time at 2B. From our second team news of the season, we had hoped INF: Kilipaki Iugini would take some of the sting out of the Ackerman loss. That however has not been the case. Iugini has struggled slashing .216/.265/.341/.605 with an OPS+ of 61 in 189 plate appearances prompting management to make a change. 2B: José 'Tiny Bubbles' Rodríguez was promoted from AAA to take over the starting position at 2B. It marks a long awaited return to the BBA for Rodríguez. We last saw Rodríguez as the starting shortstop for the hated Montreal Blazers back in 2050. Since 2050 Rodríguez has seen time with Toyoko, London, Athens, Cairo and Buenos Aires of the GBC. We signed the switch hitting 2B on May 27th to a minor league deal after the Ackerman injury. He's performed well in a small sample size of 96 plate appearances in AAA slashing .352/.394/.670/1.064 with a 1.7 WAR with AAA Annapolis. We're hopeful he can provide a steady defense at 2B while contributing a little better with the bat.

Also making their returns to the active roster were SS: Sammy 'Bumper' McNeill and MR: Clarence Pritchard. To make room on the active roster for those two UTIL: Danny Castillo and MR: Lev Lutsenko were optioned to AAA. Castillo shortly after the demotion landed on the IL due to a 2 week day to day injury and Lutsenko we are going to try in the rotation in AAA to hopefully help further his development. I think Lutsenko will have a good shot at making the major league roster next season as both of our southpaws are free agents at the end of the year.
