This might be the busiest I've been at the trade deadline since my first trade deadline with Mumbai many moons ago. With our second deadline deal we acquired veteran OF: Norihisa 'Knuckles' Yokoyama in exchange for 1B: Joe 'Sloth' Melucci and MR: Arend Thyregod. First off I'd like to say that I wasn't actively looking to deal the Sloth. Melucci in parts of 3 seasons for us produced very well. He produced a .277/.358/.484/.842 with 74 homers primarily as the DH vs RHP. The reason for the deal was as I looked at my team as the deadline drew closer I felt that our offense was a little weak vs LHP despite presently having a 32-10 record vs southpaws. I'm hopeful that employing Yokoyama for the rest of the season as our DH it'll give us some added balance to make the lineup less susceptible versus lefties. So far the deal looks great as Knuckles has raked with a .289/.341/.671/1.013 statline with 8 homers over 19 games played.

Fun note is that Yokoyama wasn't the guy I initially made a push for. I initially made an offer for old friend 1B: Dylan 'Dimples' Malloch, whom I had with Jerusalem. What happened with those negotiations was work and an unplanned fishing trip. I made an offer for Malloch Edmonton made a counter I didn't get a chance to look at the counter until after he was traded. It happens.

I wasn't thrilled about giving up Thyregod as I feel like he can be a solid middle relief option in a few season, but the issue with him is that he has to be added to the 40 man roster to be protected this winter and at this time I feel like 40 man roster slots are very important so I was a bit more willing to let him go.

Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day.

Nothing bad about unplanned fishing trips!
