After trading Arturo Maes to Yellow Springs, the team has announced that Israel Camacho has won the CF job, earning his first Opening Day nod. He will face RHP with Rafael Moreno filling the short side of the CF platoon.

Still on 19 and not even a year after he was drafted in the 2nd round, Camacho's solid Spring along with signs of some quick developed made it tough on the team on who they planned to start in CF. With Maes around, the felt that while Camacho is ready, it could buy him some more time in the upper minors. Then Yellow Springs called asking for Maes, putting the team in a spot to get some assets while allowing Camacho to make the team after earning it.

"It's a big jump but we think he's ready," said GM Brandon Slouck. "He's mature beyond his years. Nothing really phases him. He's clearly worked hard with our coaches since being drafted. He really earned this."

The duo of Camacho and Moreno in CF has a chance to give him one of the better CF's in the league for only $1M as they both are still paid league minimum. Both should play above average defense. Camacho has big time home run power while Moreno drives the gaps more.

Camacho continues a youth movement for the Jimmies that still has some big names to come. However, don't expect them to not be in the mix this year after a deep run in the playoffs in 2046.

He's definitely improved somewhat over where he was when he was drafted. But it makes me happy that I included him in list 3.

Yeah his contact bumped a bit. Didn't expect his strong side split to be as good as it is. Figured solid enough given his defense but he's a little more than that now. Wasn't going to have him make the team but he had a nice Spring to make it tough. Then Ron asked for Maes and it was an easy choice to get something for him and let Camacho get the nod. He's been in a slump the last 2 sims but I'm fine with his production so far.
