Warehouse Wire 2046.07: On to Montreal

Post by bcslouck » Wed Apr 28, 2021 9:42 am

After losing game 1 in the Geoghegan to Rockville, the Jimmies rallied to win 3 straight and take the best of 5 series. The Jimmies will now face Montreal in the Doubleday Series, which is a best of 7.

Winning the series in 4 means that the team can set up the rotation for Bill Constable to start game 1, 4, and a potential game 7. The team is going with a 3 man rotation to maximize the use of the Johnson League Triple Crown Winner. He wasn't his sharpest in game 1, taking the loss in a 6 inning effort, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks. He did manage to strike out 7.

Mid-season acquisition Gonzalo Martínez was the Series MVP, batting .412 with 2 HR's and 7 RBI. Enrique Hernández also turned in a standout performance, hitting .571 for the series.

The upcoming series puts the Jimmies against the best team in the JL in 2046. The Blazers also boast a strong rotation like the Jimmies, but have a much better bullpen. The offense is also a tad better. Montreal has a run difference of +151, 46 runs better than the Jimmies +105. After going 11-5 against the Jimmies in the regular season, The Blazers have to be viewed as the heavy favorites. The biggest concern for Montreal might be potentially cooling off after a hot September with getting a bye. But they are the better team and are probably expected to win it in 5 or 6.

None the less, Charm City has a decent track record in their history of Doubleday Series'. This is only the teams 3rd appearance, but the Jimmies have won the previous 2 series'. After finally winning a Geoghegan Series, the Jimmies appear loose and ready to take on Montreal and take another step closer to the organizations first Landis.

That was an awfully close series, and if not for the unheroic efforts of Dwight Dunn I might have beaten Constable twice.

Too bad you didn't get the Frontier winner.

Yeah I thought I would but I guess I've never noticed we don't reseed.

I was expecting to get Calgary as well.

Hopefully we can get to Constable a little. My guys don't seem to perform when under pressure.
