Warehouse Wire 2046.05: Constable Suspended by Team

After an internal investigation, Bill Constable has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended 4 games following comments on his desire to play for Yellow Springs were caught on tape and reported by the Yellow Springs News. The suspension starts after his start tonight against Atlantic City.

"We've had an internal investigation on the matter," said GM Brandon Slouck. "Bill will serve a suspension and be fined. I won't comment further on it. But seriously, I do have to ask, how terrible must Canada be if Ohio reminds him of home in a fond matter?"

The general manager was really amused with himself.

When asked to comment on the statement put out by Yellow Springs on their "high ethical standards," Mr. Slouck just shook his head.

"Weren't they apart of that Operation Blueprint™ multi-team scandal a few years back?"

By the smirk on his face, it was obvious he knew the answer.

"Alright, lets get on with it."

With that, the GM motioned over Bill Constable to take the podium.

"I want to apologize to the city of Baltimore," Bill Constable started with in what looked to be a prepared statement. "I want to apologize to all the fans of the Jimmies. The Jimmies organization. My teammates. There is no excuse for what's happened."

At this point, he looked down at the table and shook his head. It was obvious he was nervous, embarrassed, and probably a couple other emotions at this point.

"I shouldn't put myself in a situation like that. I shouldn't put any of you in that situation. I never want the focus to be on me on or off the field. With the year we are having, we shouldn't have to deal with off field issues. For that, I'm truly sorry."

Brandon Slouck then gave him a pat on the back, a handshake, and sent him back to the locker room to prepare for his start tonight.

"That's it. He'll learn from this I'm sure," said the veteran GM, seeming more loose that you'd expect given the situation.

"We have a playoff spot to try and lock up. Let's focus on that going forward. Thank you."

I just find it a shame that Constable will still likely be making league minimum next year. No wonder he is searching for greener pastures! You should be ashamed of yourself, particularly with the low team salary you are already sporting... I mean really, sometimes you need to loosen the purse strings. Speaking of which, I might be willing to talk a trade in the offseason for Moelling --- another great starting pitcher (70 OVR) that could really elevate your team next year. He would cost you $13 million, but he is worth more than that, and you have the salary cap space to fit him in.
