Warehouse Wire 2045.02: Constable Dominates in 1st Start

Post by bcslouck » Mon Dec 28, 2020 8:10 am

Bill Constable had already proven to be one of the best RP's in the BBA in his rookie campaign. His first start seems to hint that he's ready to be a dominant SP as well.

After striking out 130 in 65 innings with a 1.66 ERA as a RP, Constable struck out 10 in 7 innings, issuing 2 walks and allowing 4 hits in his 1st start against Brooklyn.

"The kid is incredible," said GM Brandon Slouck. "The bullpen has performed much better this year, of course a big credit to him. But we like what the other guys are doing and felt it was time for him to jump into the rotation. It's only 1 start, but he proved he's up to the task against a very good Brooklyn team."

His start helped split the series with Brooklyn and started a 4 game win streak that is still active.

The organization hopes this will breathe some fresh air into the rotation. A strength the last few years, injuries and other setbacks have the rotation one of the worst in the JL. Currently, it sits 12th with a 4.83 ERA.

As of this writing, Constable sits tied 5th in pitching WAR. He's 2nd in the league with 140 strikeouts. As much as he was racking up innings out of the 'pen, he should get even more and make a run at some of the top pitching categories in the Johnson.

With Constable looking comfortable as a SP and Feliciano Rafael set to come back in the next month, the rotation seems to be starting to settle some. With rumors that the team is looking to possibly move some big names in an effort to reposition itself, it's possible the team could also look to add a bat or two given the wealth of talent on the trade market.
