Warehouse Wire 2044.05: Heating up?

Post by bcslouck » Tue Oct 20, 2020 6:10 am

After a disastrous June which saw the team go 9-18, the team seems to be getting back on track. Going 20-14 since June, the team has clawed its way back into Wild Card contention, sitting at 57-59, only 3.5 games back of the last spot. With 3 teams between them and that last spot, this isn't where they team hoped to be right now. But it's where they are and if they keep trending up, have a shot to sneak in the playoffs as possibly one of the hottest teams in the league.

Now we've heard that story before. The team road a wave of momentum to come back from 10 games back in late August last year to force a 3 team playoff for the division, which they won. Is it possible the bye took the wind out of their sails? They did win in the Doubleday Series, but it took 7 games to take down a team that probably shouldn't of gave them as many fits. But they weren't the same and it showed after Rockville sweeping them out of the playoffs. The way Rockville is playing this year, maybe they were just that much better? The dwelling ends here.

Back to today. The team is all but assured no bye if they make the playoffs. We are in mid August now. But this time the team sits 20.5 games back from the division. There really isn't anyway that's happenings. Not for the Jimmies, anyway. It's going to have to be a Wild Card. If they make another run but get right into games with no layoff, it's possible they are the most dangerous Wild Card team in the BBA. If. If. If. A lot of work is still needed.

Expect to see super prospect Bill Constable to make his debut before rosters expand. The team has held off calling him up, sighting lack of contention. That isn't an issue now. His big arm in a late inning bullpen role could give this team a massive boost. Something the team has really never had. The bullpen has been much better and adding a weapon like him could turn the tide.

So are they for real? Will they make a run? Who knows. They are starting to heat up though and that should concern the Johnson League.
