Warehouse Wire 2044.03: 2043 Hangover?

Post by bcslouck » Tue Sep 22, 2020 6:02 am

With 2043 ending on such an emotional roller coaster, are the the Jimmies letting that carry over to this year?

It was a long offseason for the team. One would think they'd have plenty of time to get over the let down of a Cartwright Sweep at the hands of Rockville. But after going on a tear to claim the division only to have such a let down, it seems the team is out of sorts. We aren't even in June and the team is 9 games back, sitting at 18-25. Nothing is working.

The rotation, projected to be one of the best in the Johnson, and potentially the BBA, hasn't been good. A 4.24 era puts them 9th. The inflated ERA and lower innings total has made the team have to use their weak bullpen even more. 4.06 ERA is 14th in the Johnson.

The offense is doing the team any favors either. A 0.699 OPS is 13th in the league. The offense seems to always underachieve despite having a decent amount of talent. They lack a true middle of the order bat, but they have some good bats. The only one doing anything right now is star SS Wilson Andrade.

The 'pen should get some help soon. Both Steve Scott and John Wilson are on rehab, set to come back in the next week or so. Wilson is a game changer when healthy, but the case for a lot of Charm City RP's lately, that is an issue. Scott is also fairly steady.

Bottom line? I don't know, the hangover is probably an excuse. This team was so up and down last year, nothing seemed to really bother them. They have a lot more time this year to make up the deficit but that doesn't mean it's easy. The next 6 weeks will probably determine how they pivot for next year. Whether to retool and set up financials for another run or keep pushing. We know GM Brandon Slouck isn't afraid to push but we also know he's learned from his mistakes last time and won't sell out if he isn't 100% sure he has a contender.

Despite the talent on this team, we aren't sure he's that convinced.

When you win the division, yet get over looked by other teams, you'd think it'd light a fire under there ass.
