For the first time since 2034, the Charm City Jimmies will be in the playoffs vying for a shot at the Landis.
It's been a long road back to here after the window shut emphatically in 2035. Setbacks and disappointments have plagued the organization over the last 9 years. It appear the team was set to compete a couple years ago after going 87-75 in 2040 but have taken a big step back until this year, where the teams current win total of 93 is 3rd all-time for the franchise. With 4 to go, the team still has a chance at the division title after being counted out and not even considered from certain organizations as a contender.
"We always play with a chip on our shoulder," said GM Brandon Slouck. "It's been awhile since we've been this good and a viable contender. But even when we were, we always had doubters. People who didn't believe in what we're doing. And to be honest, I probably started doubting what we were doing these last 9 years so it's hard to blame them. At times, I wasn't sure if I was the man for this job anymore. But here we are. And man, ain't the beer cold."
Nothing screams spectacular about this team. They have a good rotation. The bullpen, which has been an issue for most of this year, has improved the last month or so. It's still a group that you don't want to have to win you a game. And the offense probably doesn't score as many runs as they should. The teams expected record is 5 games worse than what they actually are. That has always been the MO Charm City. Especially the playoff teams.
For a long time, the organization has been saying "the light is getting brighter" and the team is ready to compete. And time after time, the team has not lived up to those expectations. Last year was possibly the most disappointing year in franchise history. It's up there with 2035. And maybe by honoring the old guard of the last great Jimmies teams who were apart of that 2035 disaster helped exercise some baseball demons. Who knows. Who cares? The Jimmies are back.

im glad to see feliciano rafael in the playoffs again, especially because he is on the other side of the bracket. Dude is a playoff monster and absolutely someone you want pitching a game 7. I did a write-up on him after he won two of them in 2036 with the following stat lines (and remember California was the reigning Landis champ at that point:
@CALIFORNIA: 8 IP, 3 hits, 1 R, 7 K, 2 BB
vs LONG BEACH: 8 IP, 7 hits, 0 R, 9 K, 1 BB
The man is cold as ice.

He's been killing it this last month. So yeah, I'm hoping that carries along with his playoff pedigree.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 7:09 amim glad to see feliciano rafael in the playoffs again, especially because he is on the other side of the bracket.
