Warehouse Wire 2043.02: 2043 Top 5 Prospect List

Post by bcslouck » Thu Jul 02, 2020 6:52 am

#1 (BNN = BBA #30, CCJ #2) : SP Maup Manshert - ML (CUR 50/ POT 65)
-Manshert is set to lose his prospect status this year. He's been on the top prospect radar for a long time and looks ready to take his spot in the Jimmies rotation. His current ML ERA isn't great, but a 3.59 FIP means his defense is probably letting him down. With some changes around the diamond, his ERA should even out some and he should be a solid #2/good #3 going forward.

#2 (BNN = BBA #7, CCJ #1): SP Bill Constable - A (CUR 35/ POT 80)
-Arguably the best prospect in the system, Constable is #2 by virtue of how quickly his potential has flashed along with how far away he is from the majors. A unheralded international free agent out of Canada, the last year has shown him flash plus stuff, a strong ability to keep the ball in the park, and solid control. His fastball and slider are projected to be plus pitches and his newly added sinker is developing nicely and may be a plus pitch as well. Constable still has to work out his control, something that keeps him from being the true #1 prospect at this time. He will be the #1 prospect once Manshert loses his status given his immense potential.

#3 (BNN = BBA NR, CCJ #10): SP Gabriel Salgado - A (CUR 35/ POT 50)
-Saldago may be a surprise at #3, but the Warehouse Wire really likes him. He's fairly developed at age 19 and has shown better stuff and ability to keep the ball in the park better than originally scouted. He still has room to grow as a pitcher and given how he's pitched at A ball so far, we think he will look better as a prospect next season.

#4 (BNN = BBA #84, CCJ #3): Juan Hernández - A (CUR 30/ POT 55)
-The first hitter on the list, he looks to be a solid overall 3B in the future. Nothing stands out about him. He's just solid. His A ball numbers haven't lit anyone on fire, but the 22 year old should get moved to AA with a hot month or two. Given the 3B on the Jimmies currently, he could be a future trade chip if one of the big league guys aren't traded.

#5 (BNN = BBA NR, CCJ #5): 1B Luqman Ferran - IC (CUR 20/ POT 65)
-Ferran is the best pure hitting prospect in the system. He's just a long way off from making an impact. He project to have plus contact and gap power, a great ability to get the bat on the ball, and have some solid pop. He may not walk much, but that could mature with age. The 6'5" Egyptian will probably be a DH, but the organization plans to keep him at 1B for as long as possible.
