Two weeks into the season, 2/5th of the Jimmies rotation is once again hurt. Both are out for the remainder of the year. It's names you'd probably guess: Thiongo Muiru and Jorge Nevárez.

Nevárez went down with shoulder inflammation in Spring Training. It will keep him out for the rest of the year. After years of core injuries of varying seriousness, this is his first major arm injury. With a year of team control left after this year, it is no guarantee the team tenders him a contract next season.

Muiru tore his rotator cuff in the 2nd week of the season. This is the 3rd time he's had this injury. Reports indicate the team may pay him his salary to move on to independent rehab. This will also free up some cap space for any moves the team may make going forward.

Luckily the team had 8 viable rotations options. The Nevárez injury guaranteed a rotation spot for Jim Wilkinson, who struggled in Spring Training despite good peripherals. He's reward the team with a 3-0 record and 1.93 ERA (3.43 FIP) through 28 innings in 4 starts.

#2 prospect Maup Manshert started the season at AAA but was called up after Muiru went down. His first start was a success, giving a 7 inning effort with no runs allowed and 7 K's.

So far, the test depth has't hurt the team as the team is 17-7 and tied for first in the Atlantic as we head toward May. The rotation sits 3rd in the Atlantic with a 3.45 ERA, something the organization has been waiting for given the talent of the rotation over the last few years. At least early, this seems to be the year they've all decided to put it together.
