Warehouse Wire 2042.03: Lara and Andrade are All-Stars; Season Salvagable?

Post by bcslouck » Tue Apr 28, 2020 9:42 pm

In a disappointing year in Charm City, the franchise sent 2 cornerstone players to the All-Star game.

Quinton Lara received the 2nd most votes (4) for a C and served as the backup. His power numbers really dipped in June but overall, the catcher is slashing .329/.385/.510. The team will need the power to rebound to get back into the playoff hunt. This makes Lara's 3rd All-Star appearance in 3 seasons. Still only 24, he is starting to build quite the resume in Charm City as a top flight catcher.

SS Wilson Andrade was the top vote getter and starter at SS. Two whack jobs didn't vote for the talented hitter who's been hitting over .400 most of the season. It's dipped below it in the last few weeks, but he still holds an incredible .397/.433/.637 slash line through the first half. The first half included a 34 game hit streak, which is 9th in the leagues illustrious history.

Despite the efforts of these two young men, the team still finds itself under .500. Offensive production has been solid other than runs scored and while the pitching numbers have improved slightly, they still aren't good. They haven't been great since an 8-19 April, but that awful start still looms over this team. It's starting to look like something they won't recover from.

Looking at the metrics, Charm City has an equal chance to win the division or come in last at 0.1% and only a 0.8% chance of a playoff berth at this point in the season. They must take advantage of the weak schedule. A .470 opponents win percentage in the 2nd half is the lowest in the BBA. Charm City has talent all over the diamond. They just need to get there (edit: Sorry He Is Tired and so is this editor) together. If a run is in the cards, it needs to start on July 13th.

You got a good chance to get there. Based on what you and Ron talked about on the podcast, one or two more good winning streaks should get you a wild card.
