2041 ends with another season over .500 yet another year out of the playoffs.
Offense across the league went up and most teams improved. While CCJ also was better, this made their numbers more pedestrian and took a small step back. Given the debacle the rotation was this year, the small step was much bigger than anyone could expect.
Jorge Nevárez was awful. His FIP suggests he was unlucky, but even so, a 5.42 FIP is bad. A 6.78 ERA is ugly to say the least. 2041 being his worst year is a huge understatement.
The rotation as a whole finished with a 5.95 ERA. Honestly, that's a miracle. However, a 4.87 FIP, 6th in the JL, suggest everyone was unlucky to a point. So clearly something else wasn't working. That was the defense. This may be the worst defense in Jimmies history. 14th in defensive efficiency, a -4.7 zone rating and over 100 errors point to a lot of balls not being reached and a lot of plays not being made. The organization thinks it has good enough arms but were failed by a defense that let a lot of balls that got into play drop in a year that everyone was hitting. Priority number 1 is to improved the overall defense.
Despite the disappointment, there were some good things.
Quinton Lara followed up a great rookie campaign with a very good sophomore season that solidified him as a star and one of the top catchers in the league. Wilson Andrade put up a solid year that would be better in most years. His OPS of .900+ over the last 2 months suggests he learned from earlier mistakes and should be much better in 2042. The team needs him to be. And Tomás Guillén looks like another really good young player after leading the team in hitting and should man CF for the foreseeable future.
The biggest development of 2041 for the team was the continued improvement of Bronco Rojas. He started 2041 as a potential solid SP and goes into the offseason with the makings of a top of the rotation piece. The numbers don't necessarily point to that but he was slightly above average in his first full season as a SP. His biggest thing is continuing to work on consistency and trusting his plus stuff.
The future still looks bright as the team transitions from some older players and bloated contracts to younger, more talented, cheaper options. They should have roughly $40M to spend. The free agent class doesn't look great. The key will be finding some value pitching and players to help out the defense. They may even have to take a chance on a contract via trade. Last year the organization sat on their hands and paid for it. This year, they know they have to do something dramatic to keep pace with some of the growing powers in the JL.

Re: Warehouse Wire 2041.06: Disappointment
I do a double take when I see CCJ lol, in England CCJ stands for county court judgement and is generally due to unpaid debts being collected, so I’m always disappointed to find out that Brandon doesn’t owe a shedload of money
