Warehouse Wire 2038.06: CCJ makes Andrade #1

Dominican SS Wilson Andrade has been selected by Charm City with the #1 overall pick in the 2038 draft.

From reports in the warehouse, the team long had their eyes on the talented young player. He projects to be a plus bat and plus glove at one of the most important positions on the field, SS. He could play defense at a Zimmer level in the BBA now. Only 17 years old, he has a long way to go with his bat. He did show off his potential this past season. Slashing a .388/.459/.713 (1.172 OPS; 175 OPS+) he hit the ball all over the field while showing his above average power, hitting 14 doubles and socking 11 HR's.

"We are estatic that we got to have the #1 pick in a year a player as talented as him was available," said a beaming Brandon Slouck, GM of the Jimmies. "We loved everything about him. This was a loaded draft but he was always our guy. We wanted that cornerstone SS and there managed to be one on the board when we had the #1 pick. Just estatic."

It is expected Andrade will report to Assateague (R) as the starting SS. Grady Fern is expected to move to 2B or an OF position while repeating the level after scuffling last season. Reports indicate Fern was not happy about the pick. He could not be reached for comment.

Fern was viewed as the future SS. At least, based on what was in the system. Chances are they would of acquired a better option within. Fern projects to be a solid defender and be a solid contact hitter. But that is out the window with Andrade in the organization now. Fern could be a future 2B or be one of the better utility players in the league if he develops well and is cross trained right. No offense to Fern, his potential isn't close to Andrade. Andrade could be a future star. One of the best SS's in the league. At least that what Charm City hopes for.
