Warehouse Wire 2037.06: Prospect Watch 5/2037

*Jorge Nevarez (#1) has done very well in his first season of full season ball. The headliner of the return for Charm City in a blockbuster with Omaha back in 2035, he's managed to toss a 1.93 ERA through 42 innings with 19 K's to 4 BB's. While the organization would like to see his strikeout numbers go up, his BB/9 (0.9) and HR/9 (0.2) are both fantastic marks thus far.

*Thiongo Muiru (#4) is not only one of the organizations higher tier pitching prospects, but also probably the closest to making his ML debut this year. After earning a promotion to AAA with a strong 2036 and even stronger start to 2037, he's been fantastic at the next level. While his K/9 is down to 3.8 from 6.5 at AAA, his BB/9 is lower (1.5 from 1.8) and he hasn't given up a HR in 23.2 innings (3 GS), leading to a 1.14 ERA. The team will probably keep him at AAA all season in hopes he can round out his repertoire with an eye toward a rotation spot next Spring.

*Joaquin Hebner (#12) is another player who isn't far from Charm City, but like Muiru, will probably be held back with a chance in the Spring. The kid can hit though. Ranked 12th in the organizational prospect rankings, many around the warehouse view him as one of the top guys with his plus bat to ball skills and ability to take a walk. While he will never hit for much HR power, he still has a chance to consistently put up slash lines around .300/.400/.425 with 50+ extra base hits.

*Javier Lopez (#18) has consistently been one of the organizations top hitters the last 2 seasons. After a blistering start at A ball, he's continued it at AA. .385/.414./.662 with 10 extra base hits through 18 games is flat out getting it done. He unfortunately has missed some time to injury this season but could end up at AAA by the end of the season if he continues to dominate.

*June will see some of the teams current and future top prospects join the short season teams. Along with some of the team's future draft picks, figure on seeing Pedro Ruiz (#2), Wllibald Akbulut (#5), and Tomas Guillen (#11) will all be sent to R ball. While still young and raw players, the organization usually is aggressive with it's better IFA's with the intent to get them adjusted to life as a pro ball player at a young age.
