Breaking news!

Reports are flying in that the Jimmies have made a trade with Huntsville. While we still don't have all the specifics of the deal, we do know that the Jimmies will be acquiring Luis Soto and Juan Canó. Rumors from the warehouse suggest that the Jimmies are sending back top prospect 3B Michael Best, one of their top pitching prospects, and a catcher.

When more details come about, the Warehouse Wire will report them.

Update!

It has been confirmed that Best will be going to Huntsville. Also in the deal, are SP Mutsuhito Imai, C Sergio Hernandez, SS Rivelino Teive, and CF Gualtiero Crisci.

Best is a good, potentially All-Star caliber 3B, who can get the bat on the balls, has a little bit of pop, and can play a good 3B. Imai is a SP with potential plus stuff, but needs to work on his control. Hernandez looks like a solid C option who can hold his own behind the plate and at bat. Teive and Crisci are probably bench players, with Crisci having a fringe chance of being a BBA starting OF.

With the trade, the Jimmies pick up another SP that they needed. Soto has been a very solid SP over his career. The biggest concern could be his health, as he hasn't made 30 starts since 2031. He has shown the ability to still be a good SP when healthy, but the Jimmies will need him to pitch every 5th day. The Jimmies hope has can stay healthy not only for the success of the upcoming season, but for the potential draft pick he could bring next offseason, as he was trade to Charm City just before Opening Day. Reports seems to indicate they are open to resigning him to a short term deal as long as he can prove he's healthy.

Also in the trade, they pick up young reliever Juan Canó. His development is about done, but he has potentially overwhelming stuff and comes with 5 years of team control, including his pre-arby league minimum salary years. While he struggled with Huntsville last year, he skipped AAA, so he probably wasn't ready. The team will keep an eye on how he does. They do plan to have him on the Opening Day roster, but will option him to AAA if he's struggling, not only for his own development and confidence, but to protect a bullpen that will be trying to close out games for a team that hopes to contend.

While the goal of the team was to get the farm system back in order, part of that was for the Jimmies to have the bullets to make moves like this. Best was blocked by the Winson extension at 3B, and though he could probably play 1B, the team has other 1B prospects they value. Imai does have potentially great stuff, but has questionable makeup and control issues. While the system takes a hit of losing these prospects, along with Hernandez, it's still better off than it was at the end of the 2034 season.

Hopefully, Soto can be the SP the team needs and Canó can fill a relief role to help propel the team into the playoffs once again.

You could have gotten a better starter than injury prone Soto by trading Best all by himself.

If you say so. I doubt it.
