Carlton Winson wins the Sawyer Silk in his first full season in Charm City. He also won the JL Charles Puckett Golden Bat Award at 3B.
"It's a great honor," said Winson. "It was great to have this great year to go along with a great team. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done in the playoffs. This is kind of bitter sweet. While I respect this award and am honored to have it, I'd rather be holding a Landis."
It's his second consecutive award. By WAR, this is the best season of his career. Though his overall bat was better last year, he hit more home runs this year and played better defense, providing above average defense at the hot corner to go along with his all-world power.
"To say trading for him has been good for the team is an understatement," said GM Brandon Slouck. "Us not reaching our final goal of winning a Landis is not on him. He's done everything in his power to help carry a good roster. We hope he's a Jimmie for the rest of his career."
The last sentence is an interesting quote. 2035 is the last year of the team friendly deal he signed with Phoenix to buy out his arbitration years. He is one of a few key players that are due to hit free agency after 2035. Despite thoughts around the league that the team may shop him and some of the other players to try and reload for the future, the team seems to be looking to resign who they can, at least according to the GM.
"We'll see what happens. We'll talk to our guys, exchange some numbers, and see what happens. In a perfect world, we'd keep our guys. But we will probably have to move someone."
We'd assume that Winson is on the top of the list of players they'd like to resign. He'll be 32 entering the season, so the team may not go 6 years, even if he wants it. If they do, certainly they will protect themselves with a team option or two at the end of the deal. Basically, the way Carlton Winson stays in Charm City is if he negotiates in a way that shows the organization he wants to stay.

If winson gets to FA that will be a very interesting bidding process. He could be the offensive version of the correa/Lopez duo from a few years ago.
