2034.08 - All-Star Notes
ALL-STARS
*RP Wilmot Schlondorff
This is Wilmot's 3rd straight All-Star game as the Jimmies closer. The former EBA standout has now become a BBA standout, becoming one of the games better closers. Not many RP's throw as many innings as he does, and it looks like he will throw over 100 innings once again. Coming off of winning the JL Jason Egan Reliever Award in 2033, he's looking to earn the award once again.
*3B Carlton Winson
Winson has been an absolute beast since becoming a Jimmie. Not that he wasn't one in Phoenix, but his game has somehow raised since coming east. He's on pace for over 70 home runs and over 170 RBI's. Both the home run and RBI record set by Hall of Famer Long Chamberlain are in danger of falling to the mighty slugger. While the team has plenty of power outside of Winson, he is once again putting the team on his back in 2034.
*RF Aubrey Anderson
This was his 2nd All-Star game after making it in 2033. He's having a great year batting 5th and 6th this season. The Jimmies hope he doesn't have a 2nd half slump like last season. He just got some of his lineup protection back with Backstrom coming off the DL. He should hit 35+ home runs once again and continue to be an all around very solid player.
SNUBBED?
*2B Paul Backstrom
Backstrom has had a renaissance in Charm City. Holding his own against RHP and absolutely destroying LHP, his batting average has been around .300 all year while providing plus power. A DL stint starting in mid-June probably hurt his chances. Since coming off the DL, he's shifted to DH to try and keep his bat healthy, and has been solid .842 OPS through 23 at bats. The team is hoping in time, his bat will heat up similar the first few months of the season once again.

Winson's jump since becoming a Jimmie is pretty cool, as long as you're not a Phoenix fan.

I don't know how Phoenix park is, but he crushes in my park. Though he still have around a 1.000 on the road, so it may not matter.
What I just noticed is that his numbers get better the more that is on the line. .991 OPS in low, 1.126 in medium, and 1.406 in high. 10 HR's in 55 high leverage AB's.

I agreed at first, but looking again, his OPS+ and wRC+ have been 15-25 points better since being here.niles08 wrote:What jump are you referring to? He seems to be about the same hitter since 2031 except this season when he has hit a crazy amount of home runs.

You are correct! My fault for not digging in deeper or I would have noticed. I wish I had half of a Winston on my teambcslouck wrote:I agreed at first, but looking again, his OPS+ and wRC+ have been 15-25 points better since being here.niles08 wrote:What jump are you referring to? I had the same thought as you until I saw those numbers. I'm really glad I held on to him.

Whoever drafted this Winson fella 10 years ago in the EBA when he had just 6 power potential must be a pretty smart guy.

Re: 2034.08 - All-Star Notes
I put it with a question mark because I think he was on the fence. Before he got hurt, he was on a really good pace. He may not of deserved it between some of the big years in the JL and the rule of having everyone get a player. Really don't blame you for leaving him off. Just stirring the pot, honestly. Gotta write something.udlb58 wrote:bcslouck wrote:ALL-STARS

Re: 2034.08 - All-Star Notes
It's just so damn hard to get selected in this league. Noboru and Rutledge only have 3 all-star appearances, heck, even Alfredo Martinez only has 7 in 11 seasons.

Re: 2034.08 - All-Star Notes
I agree. A lot of good players and they take turns having crazy years. His WAR probably wouldn't of held up because of defense, but his bat was good enough up until the injury.
