2033.08 - Jimmies silent at the deadline

The trade deadline came and went. The Jimmies stayed quiet.

Usually a team working the phones and adding a piece or two, this year they decided to stick with what they have.

"Nothing really made sense for us," said GM Brandon Slouck. "Financially, what we'd have to send, and was available just didn't fit us. We see some guys on our team who we know are capable of much more and we hope that can be our final push into the playoff. We also made some in season acquisitions already. We feel good about things."

Clearly when he mentions underachievers, the top guy for that is last years Nebraska winner Egbert Behner. His 4.34 ERA is the highest since his first year in the BBA. Across the board, he his having career worst stats. The team will need him to pick it up some if they want to have a chance to get back to the Landis.

Nicholas Sutton falls into not only the underachievers, but the in season acquisition. After being a solid SP for Atlantic City over the years and a very good start to this year, he's been terrible in a Jimmie uniform. His ERA has more than double and his FIP is over a run higher from his time in Atlantic City. He really needs to pick it up and could be hampering his future earnings as this is his walk year.

Carlton Winson is the teams acquisition that has been one of the better moves you can make. Except for July, where his OPS was barely .700, He's OPS'd over 1.000 in every month. For the season, he's hit 52 HRs, 40 of them with Charm City. He's been a fantastic addition to a lineup that was stagnant. The team will need him to continue to punish opposing pitching while playing good defense at the hot corner.

The team's decision to stand pat at the deadline has been questioned by the media. But sometimes the best move you can make is to not make a move at all. Time will tell if that will be the quote that defines the 2033 Jimmies.

Winson is an amazing guy. Glad to see him have a chance at the post season.
