As we get into late August, the Jimmies still find themselves within striking distance of a Wild Card spot.
Though the team has gone 10-8 so far, the month is lined with missed opportunities. The beginning of the month was 3 games of a 4 game series against Jacksonville, one of the teams ahead of us in the standings. A split would of been huge. We promptly got swept, with one loss coming in the 9th inning. Then, we managed a split with Atlantic City, which is good, but again, lost in extra innings in one of the games. And we went down to Carolina and split. While anytime you get a road split is good, they are a team we needed to get at least 3 wins from. Again, one of the losses came in extra innings. 3 games that the team needed to win. 3 games back is where we find ourselves. Every game counts.
The next 9 games could be very telling on how September will go. With 1 game left in a series with Havana, we go to Montreal for a huge 4 game series, followed by a 4 game series at home with Phoenix. While the team is 15-4 against Havana and Phoenix, we have only managed to go 2-6 versus Montreal.
Going 5-4 would be nice. But realistically, we probably need to go 6-3 to keep pace. Though, the teams in the hunt seem almost as inconsistent as us. The .500ish or worse stretches will have to stop from here on out if we are to grab a spot in the Wild Card.

Yes, I think we have. Though, I felt like we could be .500. The slow start really hurt us.
