Charm City 2062.1 - Jimmies Resign Vets, Hire New Pitching Coach

In a move that made some fans raise an eyebrow the Charm City Jimmies announce the resigning of long time Jimmies Rannal Seldon and Manuel Barrera.

Seldon posted a career worst 80 ERA+ in 2061 and many expected the Jimmies to let the long time south paw walk in free agency. Seldon is expected to start 2062 as the #5 starter in what is thought to be a solid rotation. He has to perform though as the organization's #2 pitching prospect Ian Tolley is expected to push for a roster spot by midseason.

Barrera is expected to return to his closer role in 2062. Barrera went 7-2 with a career low 1.59 ERA along with 32 saves last season. While no longer a speed ball pitcher, Barrera has been able to morph into a formitable pitch to contact reliever. His fastball now tops out at 87 mph after reaching the triple digits earlier in his career. He's expected to return to the closer role where he needs 18 more saves to become just the 6th BBA pitcher to reach 500 career saves.

New Pitching Coach

The Jimmies didn't wait long to name a new pitching coach. Domingo Aquino. An unknown Stateside, Aquino comes to the BBA from the Dominican, is thought to specialize in groundball pitchers. This is a tactic that has worked quite well in Charm City. The Jimmies are expected to fill out their big league and minor league staffs in the coming days.
