In a statement provided by the family, the team has announced longtime team owner Stain McLain has passed away.
"We are saddened to announce the passing of our father Stan McLain. While we mourn, he now joins our Mother Mary in heaven with our Lord. Other than his family, he loved baseball and having the chance to own the Jimmies as an expansion team fulfilled a lifelong dream for Dad. The team gave him much joy over the years. One of his biggest regrets was not being able to bring a championship back to Baltimore. But he loved that he brought baseball back to this town.
Unfortunately, even as we mourn, business has to be tended to. As per out Father's will, the option to buy his controlling shares was given to minority owner Cemal Jirecek. He has informed us we can (and are happy to) announced he has agreed to buy the team's shares and will take majority ownership in the Charm City Jimmies effective 12/16/2047.
We appreciate the outpouring of love and support but request privacy at this time.
Thank you,
Stan Jr., Tiffany, and John McLain"
The Warehouse Wire offers it's condolences to the McLain family.
Cemal Jirecek could not be reached for comment.
