Warehouse Wire 2044.04: 2044 Top 5 Prospect List

Post by bcslouck » Tue Sep 22, 2020 9:04 am

For reference, here is the Warehouse Wire Top 5 for 2043.

#1 (BNN = BBA #1, CCJ #1): SP Bill Constable - AA (CUR 50/ POT 80) - ETA: Late 2044
-Really no explanation needed unless you're a new reader or live under a rock. 11/9/8 potential ratings. Doing very well at AA.

#2 (BNN = BBA #98, CCJ #2): -SP Marcos Gonzáles - AA (CUR 45/ POT 55) - ETA: 2045
-Moving up from the Honorable Mentions in the previous Top 5, the kid has just flat out pitched. Sure, there are concerns if he'll be able to throw enough strikes in the BBA. He's actually out pitching #1 prospect Bill Constable at AA right now. He was also the ace in Cumberland last year. He gives up less home runs that you'd think too. He has 3 really good pitches. He may be brought along more slow just to see if they can iron out his potential control. Looks like he could be a solid back end of the rotation starter though in a league starved for pitching.

#3 (BNN = BBA #91, CCJ #2): 3B Juan Hernández - AA (CUR 40/ POT 55) - ETA: 2045
-Hernández is still the top hitting prospect in the organization. His ceiling isn't as high as some players, but he looks to be a solid future regular as his development has been steady. At 23, he looks to be having the best year of his pro career and could potentially make his stop at AAA short, if he goes there at all.

#4 (BNN = CCJ #6): SP Andrés Grummitt - AA (CUR 40/ POT 55) - ETA: 2046
-There is nothing flashy about the Aruban except for his gaudy groundball numbers. None of his pitches will blow you away but he throws strikes and keeps the ball in the park. While he is probably as developed as the other SP's on this list, he may be held back a little longer to see if he can build on his development and find himself an out pitch. Even if he doesn't, he looks like a solid candidate to be at the back of a rotation.

#5 (BNN = CCJ #4): COF Cordell Vaughn - INC (CUR 20/ POT 55) - ETA 2048
-Vaughn looks like a potential middle of the order bat despite some contact issues. He could be a guy that drives the ball all over (and out of) the park with good plate discipline. Sure, he'll strike out a bunch and probably hit .240. But an .850+ OPS is possible if he fills out like the organization hopes.
