Warehouse Wire 2037.05: Sandcastle

The organization has announced the signing of future Hall of Famer Leon Sandcastle. It's reported to be a 2 year deal for a total of $15,000,000. It's reported that year 2 is a mutual option (player opt-out & team option).

"We're excited to have Leon here," said GM Brandon Slouck. "He's forgotten more about baseball than most people will ever know. He's good to have around the clubhouse. He also happens to be pretty good at baseball still."

The Sandcastle signing caps off a flurry of veteran signings by the team. Matt Mills, Sean Smith, Julio Torror, Carlos Garcia were all signed and Luis Miguel Carrillo was resigned. While none of the signings are all that flashy, they present solid upgrades over last years team while potentially giving the fans players to root for while waiting on the future.

"We said we wanted to give something the fans they could be proud of," said the GM. "That hasn't really been the case the last 2 seasons. We started the sell of so it was expected, but last year was bad. Real bad. I don't blame the fans for not coming. But hopefully these guys bring them back."

Despite the bleak outlook of 2037, fan interest around the city is higher this year and above average overall, seeming to hint that the moves have made an impact.

With Sandcastle being an all-time great and solid player still, the fan base should be ecstatic to buy Charm City jersey's with his name on the back.
