Edmonton Sure Knows How To Pick ‘Em (Hoppy Endings, pre Sim 11) [PP:2055.15]

Things have been looking great on the farm in 2055 for Edmonton, and it’s only getting better.

In an unusual occurrence, the Jackrabbits managed to sign all 20 players selected in the 2055 Amateur Draft and find roster room for all of them with the La Paz Toppers (Short Season A level team) and the Mississauga Credits (Rookie level team). Buoyed by the new arrivals, the Toppers (6-1) and Credits (5-2) are off to very nice starts. Both teams hope to stay near the top, like the A-level Charlesbourg Castors and the AA-level Saskatchewan Monarchs. Both of those squads are currently in first place in their respective divisions.

“We were quite meticulous with our draft selections this year,” explained GM Mike Bauer. “We waited until well after the 5th round to start selecting high school players and when we did start targeting them, we prioritized the ones who we thought had a reasonable shot to sign. Fortunately, we were able to take full advantage of all 20 selections.”

The extra roster room in the lower minors was present due to multiple factors. One is the new age limits enforced by BBA which forced some of the older support or injury replacements out of work. Another is the scarcity of quality international discoveries in BBA. On top of that, Edmonton doesn’t have the capital to spend as much on International Free Agency (IFA) compared to other more affluent teams in the league.

While the major league club seems to be floating around .500 in limbo and not aware if they’re a playoff team or not, the mission for the minor league teams is clear – stay on top and win!
