BBA investigators completed their search in rural Spain and after some interviews and prodding of public officials were able to obtain AAA corner infielder Leonardo Romero’s authentic birth certificate.
“After completing our search overseas, we were able to obtain the true materials to identify Mr. Romero,” stated BBA lead investigator Davis Darling. “The authentic birth certificate shows that Romero indeed was born on August 16, 2025. There shall be no changes made to his official standing or eligibility in the BBA or GBC or their minor league affiliates. This concludes our investigation into this case.”
What exactly happened to cause this confusion?
“Based on information provided by investigators, we are led to believe that Romero’s certificate was indeed falsified,” explained Edmonton GM Mike Bauer. “But indeed the date of birth itself was not altered. We believe this happened because Romero’s mother had several certificates falsified for her children and due to the volume involved not all of them were altered as intended. It’s reassuring to Leonardo he has verified his age and has his authentic paperwork going forward.”
