Baby Bunnies – 2054 (AA) Saskatchewan Monarchs (Hoppy Endings, pre-sim 25) [PP:2054.31]

Just like the A-level Castors, the AA Monarchs also finished 2054 with a 73-67 record. Few from the Monarchs exactly set the world on fire or earned a surprise major league promotion to Edmonton. But there were some performers who put forth steady contributions that hopefully will be built upon in future seasons. Namely …

SP Randy Lawrence – This righty starter, who was acquired from Omaha via trade in January, had a nice 2054 campaign. He started 28 games with half of those being quality starts. He finished the season with a 3.68 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. GM Mike Bauer wants to see a little more from him before giving him a role in the majors. But his shot may be coming soon.

SP Roman Rodriguez – This #95 OSA prospect started 17 games and put together a remarkable 10-1 record with a 3.24 ERA. This kind of outing earned Roman a September callup, and he is now enjoying a cup of coffee with the Jackrabbits and working out of the bullpen. His assignment for 2055 is very much up in the air, but sticking in the majors is also a possibility.

SS Sung-moon Yu – Yu’s steady defense and contact hitting make him a solid asset in the Jackrabbits organization. The righty hit .302 with a 1.9 WAR during 2054. He also defied the odds and hit 10 homers. He’s a longshot to reach the majors, but is valuable enough that the Jackrabbits will want to keep him around somewhere in the farm system.

RF Liam Dommett – Liam is a substandard corner outfielder from a defensive standpoint, but his raw power is keeping him on minor league lineup cards. The righty slugger hit .268 with 17 homers in 2054 and sported a 146 OPS+. Due to age limits, he will have to be elevated to AAA next season. The 28-year old should do just fine there. But it’s unlikely Liam will be elevated to the majors unless there is a break-glass situation or a major rash of injuries.
