Baby Bunnies – 2054 (S A) La Paz Toppers (Hoppy Endings, pre-sim 25) [PP:2054.29]

The Toppers finished 42-34 and missed the playoffs, but this team seems to be the one with the buzz and upside in the Edmonton farm system. Let’s look at the top performers from 2054 squad:

SP Glenn Hargrove – This right-handed power pitcher was taken 3rd overall in the 2053 draft out of Schlitz College. In 16 games, he recorded 10 quality starts with a 11-4 record, compiling a 2.88 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. Other BBA teams might have rushed him to the high minors by now, but the Jackrabbits are taking their time here. In 2055 he’ll be expected to start more games and hone his craft in A ball.

RP Alexander Folsom – This lefty was dominant in 2054, posting a 0.78 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in 23 innings of relief. A 7th round pick in 2054, he may be expected to play one more year in La Paz, but if the A-level Castors need another lefty in the bullpen Folsom may get the promotion.

RP Borivoj Mamrila – Mamrila is an interesting 5-pitch hurler. He lacks the stamina and pitch quality to make it as a starter, but thankfully he’s doing nicely as a reliever, with 7 saves, 7 holds and 3.04 ERA in 2054. He’ll likely be promoted to A-level for 2055 and might have a solid career as a minor league long reliever.

1B Ed Pray – The phenomenon of Ed Pray has been discussed already elsewhere. Now with the season complete, Pray finished with a .387 average, 14 homers, 68 RBI and a 1.060 OPS. The 13th round pick will likely be asked to remain in La Paz and try to maintain this elite production for one more year as the DH, since his fielding skills are suspect even for first base.

RF Bob Pope – Edmonton is happy with the way things are going for their 2054 4th round pick Pope. He is solid defensively and can play all 3 outfield positions, and hits well enough as a righty that he may eventually crack the majors. He generated a solid .320/.378/.494 line in 2054. He’s on the verge of earning the quick promotion to A ball.

3B Larry Steele – Despite already having some good hot corner prospects in the farm system, the Jackrabbits still used their 2nd round pick on corner infielder Steele as he was the best player available. He finished the year red hot, hitting .388 with a 1.012 OPS. He’s done everything he can to earn a promotion to A-ball, but the Jackrabbits organization will have to see if there’s room to promote him yet.

Really curious to see how these 2053 picks pan out for all of us.

Yours seemed to have taken to Short A better than mine did, generally speaking.
