44.1 Jackrabbits Sold After Backlash Against Former Owner

Post by crobillard » Tue Aug 25, 2020 6:14 pm

The weekend for Edmonton Jackrabbits fans was a wild one after there was commotion about the Jackrabbits' owner Juan Rivera potentially selling the team. I would certainly be a strange thing to do since the team has been so successful, going to the postseason the past seven seasons and coming off of a 97 win season. The Edmonton Twatter virtual social media newspaper erupted with sources claiming that Rivera was caught doing some sexually explicit actions in public, but he's 75 years old so no one believed them. Rivera does have a history of being rather emotionally charged when it comes to politics however saying back in 2040, "fuck the environment." Twatter dove deep into his political history to find out if he actually did, picking up off the previous rumor, try to have intercourse the environment at any point. It wasn't until Twatter Times reporters started leaking information about an incident with a Jackrabbit at a commercial taping that Twatter erupted calling Rivera and "rabbit fucker." The Twatter Times responded clarifying that they would be releasing a story soon, the story was regarding Juan Rivera and he did not perform any sexual acts that they know of that resulted in the potential sale of the team.

Not long after that clarification, the story dropped. Juan Rivera sold the Edmonton Jackrabbits for an undisclosed amount at this time. Rivera was shooting a commercial for Edmonton gas company Drippers when during the commercial Rivera was holding a Jackrabbit and it appeared that Rivera threw the rabbit at an oncoming car. The Twatter Times reviewed the video that surfaced of the incident and it is their position that the rabbit jumped out of Rivera's hands and then tried reaching up to grab it as it jumped, but Twatter Times conceded that it didn't look very good for the former Jackrabbits owner.

Now, less than 24 hours later we know that the Edmonton Jackrabbits have been sold to former NBBA forward Jim Leonard. The Canadian native from Saskatchewan played in the NBBA for 17 seasons with the Denver Chuggits. Having never played baseball, but being a big fan Leonard frequently took to Twatter to discuss the Canadian baseball teams in the BBA. Looking into his previous posts, he never appeared to be a big Edmonton fan. He actually seemed to feature a Calgary Pioneers logo as his Twatter profile picture as recently as 2038. Having never owned a sports team and not having much of a public presence since his basketball career ended, it's not yet known how Leonard will conduct himself as an owner, but we will find out soon.
