I don't remember the day I found out General Manager Chris Wilson was leaving for Portland, but it was a huge surprise. I remember when he scouted me back at Allis-Chalmers. He was the only General Manager there and my coach told me he was just there to watch me. I was so excited. I ran track and I was really good, but that's when I knew I was going to prove that I could play baseball. Playing in Madison, right next door to my hometown, was too good of an opportunity to pass up and I already had so much success in baseball. On draft day, I knew Madison had the third overall pick in the draft. My coach told me I was going to be picked early, so I hoped and prayed I would be destined to play one hour away from my parents in Madison. Of course Mr. Wilson selected me and that was one of the happiest moments of my life, when my parents looked at me with such appreciation.

That is why it hurt so much to hear Mr. Wilson was leaving for Portland. I was committed to being a member of the Wolves for as long as they found me valuable. When he left the organization the interim general manager wouldn't view me the same way. I heard that offseason that he was shopping me around and I wanted to get ahead of it. In my fury I requested to be traded. I regret it because it wasn't very professional. Please allow this to be my apology to fans in Madison.

It was heartbreaking when I found out that a trade wasn't working out. I felt disgusted wearing a Wolves jersey, so I went into the GM's office while he wasn't around and took a bat to the entire office. Destroying personal belongings, a window, his office desk, and a stupid trophy. I tore up a doctorate degree he had in something or other and I found something very interesting. Behind a frame on the wall was a hole. There was more cash in there than I've ever seen before. It was like a bank vault you see in the movies. An incredible amount of cash. I didn't say anything, but I threw the frame on the floor, took a picture and left. I texted him and let him know that I wasn't returning to Madison. I sent him a picture immediately after of the hole with the cash in it.

The next day and right before Spring Training in 2040, I was notified I was headed to Edmonton and I never looked back. On one hand there's some regret, my emotional distress from Mr. Wilson leaving and not taking me with him got the best of me. My dedication to baseball was to Madison and somewhere along the lines I forgot that. I don't know if it was Mr. Wilson's good looks and charm or something else, but I couldn't go on without him as a part of my life. I felt betrayed, but I realize that was an overreaction now. It's really worked out in Edmonton and I believe my best years are ahead of me. I think the worst part of writing this is I couldn't remember the general manager's name, Will I think. I tried finding out what happened to him and someone said he's a doctor now, but he wanted to come back to baseball. We never heard from him again though and I wouldn't hold my breath on his return.

It's just me and my trusty bat now. It's never let me down and it never will.
