Edmonton - Cameras were flashing as the newly touted General Manager of the Edmonton Jack Rabbits made his way to the press box. The room was filled with a smoke thick haze and plenty of space in the back of Jack Ducey Park's parking lot garage. The Jack-Rabbits had just won their first game in nearly two weeks; the only win the new General Manager has witnessed since accepting the role. The native of Pangman, Saskatchewan stepped up to the mic to catch some questions from the onlooking reporters. The team has been in much turmoil since joining the league. The last General Manager made an exit that was hardly noticed with the lack of performance since being birthed in the league. Kaufmann handled many questions related to the on-field performance of the club. He admired the hard work and time spent from the last General Manager. He didn't reveal his hand on any moves he would be making. His plans were to get settled and get his family moved into there new home.
A couple of the things mentioned from the GM were the injuries to some key pieces on the young team. Chet Parrish has yet to make his day view after suffering from a Rotator Cuff Strain. He has been on the shelf since April 14, 2036. His underwhelming performance the past few seasons "make for an eyesore on paper" was Kaufmann's comments when asked about the young up and coming pitcher. His best stats to date are a 4.05 ERA in 2034. He couldn't keep the opposing team off the basepaths last year. Issuing a 3.3 bb/9 and giving up 217 hits in 195 innings of work. Parrish is hoping to rebound this year and finally give this team what they think they drafted, top of the rotation material.
Bobby Lynch was also brought up. He is a month away from throwing out his first pitch since last season. Kaufmann is hoping he won't be affected by his injury over the past year and commented that he will be needing him to get this team going in the right direction.
The evening was drawing to a close and I will highlight a few more points Kaufmann left us with. He realizes the neglect that the team showed often not making needed offseason moves (exports). The lack of managing a teams pitching. For example, he pointed to Johnny Morin who is brought up and at the top of the list for Pitcher abuse points in the 2036 Media Guide. In closing his comments reflected on finding eligible coaches to complement his up and coming team. He looks forward to building relationships in the league to make transactions!
