29.03 Stuart "Psycho" Pearce: The Star of the Show

Post by Chey » Tue Jan 03, 2017 12:01 pm

Stuart Pearce has been everything we hoped for and more when we acquired him: he’s our ace, our leader in the clubhouse, and the focal point of our marketing campaigns.

It’s hard enough to draw fans out these days when your team is competitive. When you’re deep in expansion hell, well, you need something to convince locals to give you a share of their hard-earned money. In Edmonton, that reason is Psycho. His play on the field is electrifying both his fans and his teammates, and he’s a huge part of the reason why the Jacks remain almost-halfway-respectable sixty games into the season.

Along with his fellow lefty Edgardo Burin, Pearce is headlining the Jacks rotation and delivering solid play day in and day out. Aided by our cavern of a stadium, Pearce has posted an ERA of 1.88 on the year, a figure that leads the Frick League by 0.14 points. He has the fewest H/9 and the fewest HR/9, each by a fairly significant margin, and so far he’s been worth every penny of the $13,000,000 he’s making this season.

When you fly into Edmonton International Airport, the Jacks banners you see all feature Pearce prominently. On a team lacking in star-power, he’s more than made up for it. The erratic Englishman has taken to his newfound role as a starting pitcher after several forgettable seasons in relief, and we couldn’t be happier for his success in the yellow and blue.

I really wanted Pearce...I just couldn't afford him

Glad to see him doing well

I wouldn't call them forgettable seasons in relief; he was amongst the leagues best...

He had a great run, but his last couple years were pretty rough in comparison unless you weight saves heavily on their own, which I do not.

The "Pyscho Jackrabbit". Sounds like a character on Adult Swim.
