28.06 Belfast Beefs Up

Post by Chey » Mon Sep 12, 2016 3:44 pm

After a very disappointing start to the 2028 season, the Northstars sit in third place in the EBA's Western circuit. A 7-11 record, thanks in large part to disastrous performances from the bullpen, has inspired the club to once again throw money at free agency in hopes of solving the problem.

The biggest name coming to town isn't a reliever: Fulton Reed, whose tremendous power has tantalized MBBA GMs for a decade, has finally decided to try his luck across the pond. While his lack of contact and plate discipline has muted the usefulness of his home run power in America, it's expected that the lower level of competition here in Europe will turn him into an All-Star. There are few players on Earth capable of matching his raw power, and now that he's playing against a lower calibre of pitching there is absolutely no telling what Fulton Reed will do. In his last full season in the MBBA, Reed popped 41 jacks for the Greenville Moonshiners. 41! If he can do that in America, just imagine what his brawn can accomplish here.

Joining Reed are a pair of import relievers, who'll be tasked with improving the club's ghastly record in late innings. Jose Marroquin, who inexplicably sat out last season after dishing up an ERA of 2.27 the year before, will be bringing his elite sinker to Belfast in what will likely be a set-up role. Tim Pacheco, another reliever who dominated in 2026 (to the tune of a 1.25 ERA) before being left on the sidelines in '27, will be hoping that his high-end MOV and strong stuff are enough to make up for the loss of control that he's suffered of late.

Can these new additions shake things up for a Northstars franchise that dreams of a championship? Only time will tell.

Reed! I tried to sign him at the beginning of last year but he wanted too much money.
