Pitching Staff; 2028 V5

Post by Bumstead » Sun Sep 11, 2016 1:43 pm

So, the pitching staff. The rotation should go first as they are going to hit the mound first. This may be the biggest question for Madrid this season. Can Madrid's pitching staff actually improve and lose the best pitcher in the EBA? Madrid's pitching staff put up a 3.84 ERA vs the EBA league average of 4.17 last season. (TD Bengals btw)

Rotation:

1. Brett Carter - 7/6/6. Carter is a MBBA vet that is in his 4th season with Madrid. Solid EBA starter and a team leader.

2. Lee Cuthbertson - What? 6/6/8. A late signing by the Matadors. Lee took last year off to reflect on how bad he was in the MBBA. He should eat innings and eat them well in the EBA.

3. William Patel - 8/5/5. Patel told his dad when he graduated high school that he had no intention of managing hotel properties. Madrid hopes to capitalize on this clear rebellion. Just 21 years of age, he has a bright future with Madrid. He may not be up all season but he will contribute nicely.

4. Darryl Nunns - 5/7/8. Listed as the 4th starter, but he should be solid all season. At 25, he could be in the Matador rotation for a long time.

5. Juan Salazar - 7/6/6 with 8 stamina. Another young starter, at 24, in this rotation. This is his 2nd season in the EBA and his 1st full season in the rotation.

Here's the current bullpen, well only the players I want to highlight. Every bullpen has its filler...

Closer: Ruairi Tarras - 6/7/8. His 7th season with Madrid and his first as the closer since 2024. He replaces the best closer in the EBA, but he's a vet and we're not worried.

Middle Reliever/Closer/Best Reliever in the EBA: Marcel Mirwald - 8/5/7 with 8 stamina. Formerly vultured by the MBBA, this 35 year old vet has put up 109 saves in the EBA the last 3 seasons. With his stamina we are putting him into the superman roll. The goal is to get at least 120 innings out of him as a middle reliever and part time closer/do it all man. He could probably be put into the rotation and do well, but I believe this will be his best use for the success of this team.

Overall, I think it will be tough for this pitching staff to be as good as last year's staff, but this staff won't fall on its face either.

Cuthbertson had one of the worst full seasons in recent history. He'll be good for you.

Lee didn't take 2027 off (at least not technically), he pitched 160 terrible innings in AAA, getting himself cut from a team with one of the worst pitching staffs in the MBBA. Still, I think he'll be a pretty good pitcher in the EBA
