2025 EBA All-Star Game
Eastern Alliance Claims Victory in 2025 EBA All-Star Game
Marceau Dubois takes home MVP honors as 8-run third inning powers the EA All-Stars to 10-6 victory.
15 July 2025
Neptunes Ballpark
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Marceau Dubois stood with the BNN reporter postgame, drenched in lemon Isostar, holding his MVP trophy as if he were the type of guy who just likes to keep his nose clean: "It was a fun game, of course I got lucky and got ahold of one in the third there, yeah. It felt good, but it was definitely a team victory, as these games usually are." Of course, the 24 year old rising star didn't just get lucky, as his 31 home runs to date this season would tell you. His 133,5 meter (438 ft) shot to center field off of P Alfredo Granados (Madrid) scored C Shoin Tanaka of the Munchen Brauers and DH Ricardo Rios of the Brussels Eagles to kick off the 8-run bottom of the third inning. Amsterdam capitalized on the opportunity to shine on the big stage as Dubois' teammate SS Russ Ray contributed two RBI later in the inning when RF Frank Harrisand 3B Javier Perez both of Brussels scored on his ground ball single up the middle past a diving hopeless Vicente Medrano of Paris. The 40 year old Medrano must not have felt too comfortable playing at the keystone where OSA does not have him rated for defense (he is a 4 defender at 1B, though he has logged 15 games at 2B this season). He had a much better day at the plate however, going 1/4 with 2 RBI; he was one of only 3 WA All-Stars to play all 9 innings.
The Western Alliance did not give up after the disastrous third inning, putting up a solid comeback attempt in the top of the 5th. Switch hitter Medrano kicked off the scoring with his line drive double into the right field corner that scored SS Ferdinand 'The Explorer' Magellan (SS def-3, name-10) of Madrid and 1B Eb Kruidenier of Belfast. The WA fireworks continued shortly thereafter as Medrano scored courtesy of Paris Patriot DH Jackie McKillen's home run into the right field bleachers. After a pitching change, C Meyer Gillich of Belfast hit a solo home run down the right field line.
The rest of the game was fairly uneventful as each side scored only one more run to bring the final score to 10-6. The winning pitcher for the EA was Amsterdam's Andrew Chesley for pitching a scoreless second inning. Ten pitchers contributed for each Alliance on the day, with 15 batters on the Western side getting at least 1 PA and 16 batters getting at least 1 PA on the Eastern side. The game lasted 3 hours and 24 minutes and 30.300 enthusiastic fans from all over the EU were in attendance.

Thank you! I'm happy to hear you like that. I think it adds a fun little touch of realism to use some European conventions for distances, dates, numbers (swapping '.' and ',').felipe wrote:I love the 'touch' of using meters as the unit of measure for the home run blast...great synopsis!
And of course the Isostar drenching instead of Gatorade!

Re: 2025 EBA All-Star Game
Good recap! I honestly hadn't even looked at the ASG, but it was a fun read.
Side note on Medrano: he's played nearly 5,400 innings at 2nd in his career, but at 40 probably shouldn't be playing there anymore, as shown by his -2.6 ZR and .899 EFF in those 15 games. He has been solely a DH much of the year, but was pressed into some action when Carlton fractured his thumb and we had to shuffle the infield around.

Ah! That makes sense then. At first I thought it was just a weird decision by the ASG manager, but was surprised to see he'd played some 2B this year. When I wrote this I had forgotten how badly your team had been bit by the injury bug.udlb58 wrote:Good recap! I honestly hadn't even looked at the ASG, but it was a fun read.

Yeah, in hindsight, I'd just live with a better defense option and left Medrano at DH instead of trying to bring up a bat-only player like O'Quinn and moving Medrano to 2ndLane wrote:Ah!
