Post by Lane » Sun Feb 07, 2016 3:30 pm

Sim #6 Recap

The Neptunes played 10 games from 21/5/25 to 31/5/25 going 5-5 to bring their record to 26-24 on the season, 1 game behind the Brussels Eagles (27-23). Their Pythagorean record moves to even while the Eagles sit 2 games over their Pythagorean. The Rome Raiders are close behind, 2.5 games out of first and posting a Pythagorean 1 game behind Amsterdam and only 0.5 behind Brussels. Nearly a third of the way through the season, the Eastern Alliance remains very close. The Western Alliance is also very close with the Belfast Northstars holding a razor thin 0.5 game margin over the London Bishops. Paris is only 2 games out in third place, and even the 4th place Madrid Matadors are only 4 games behind.

Schedule Highlights

In a pivotal 3 game home series against the now division leading Brussels Eagles, the Neptunes were swept and outscored 18-10. In the game on Sunday 24/5/25, Rookie SP Martin 'Pastor Doctor' Ssempa was not treated kindly in his 2025 debut. In his 5.1 innings pitched he allow 11 hits and 6 runs. The Neptunes still have high hopes for the 23 year old with 5(6)/8(8)/6(10) ratings (potential). Were it not for Ssempa's rough start, Amsterdam may have won this contest as their offense was able to score 5 runs.

Following the Eagles' series, the London Bishops came to town. Amsterdam won the first and third games on the strength of their offense. They had a chance to win the series in the ninth inning of the final game when RF Midhat Serif hit a solo home run and Jarrod Barclay followed with a single. With Amsterdam down 3-2, backup C Abraham Hicks worked a full count before grounding out to shortstop to end the game. One wonders why a pinch hitter did not appear in this crucial bottom of the ninth situation.

The sim ended on a positive note as the Neptunes headed out on the road for 10 games in 10 days. First stop, Paris, where a long game kicked off the long road trip. Amsterdam took the early lead, scoring two in the 1st and two in the 3rd before allowing one in the 4th. The 4-1 score held until the bottom of the 8th when Neptunes relievers Mohamed Forest and Tim MacPhater combined to allow 3 runs. After a scoreless 9th, AMS 1B Tony Ortiz hit a 126.5 meter (415 ft) line drive home run to left field on an 0-2 count. In the bottom of the inning, with a chance to close out the game and secure the win, Juan Paredes allowed a solo home run to Rafaello Altabani to tie the game back up. After a scoreless 11th (with Paredes remaining in the game) the Neptunes scored 3 runs in the top of the 12th. Given another chance at finishing the game, Juan Paredes remained in the game to to pitch a third inning. He was successful this time, retiring Altabani and the next two Patriots to earn the coveted BS-W line score.

Looking Forward

The Neptunes continue their road trip with one final game in Paris followed by 3 in Rome and 4 in Brussels. They then return home to host Munchen and Madrid on a 6 game homestand. Amsterdam is 5-5 over their last ten and look to improve on that with a solid road trip.
