Sim # 5 Recap

The Neptunes played 9 games from 11/5/25 - 21/5/25 compiling a record of 5-4. Their season to date record is now 21-19 and they maintain a slim 1.5 game lead over the Brussels Eagles. Pythagorean records show the Neptunes underperforming by 1 game. This sim saw 3 1-run games (2 losses) and two 10-2 wins.

The league as a whole is still close to their pythagorean records with 3 teams even and the rest no more than one game plus or minus. The Belfast Northstars lead in the Eastern Alliance is down to 0.5 games over the London Bishops.

Schedule Highlights

On 11 May, Amsterdam defeated Paris to secure the 3-1 series win.

In the subsequent series agains the Munchen Brauers, the Neptunes lost 2 of 3 despite outscoring their opponent 14-8 over the three games. The Neps lost a nail biter in the first game of the series when Andrew Chesley of AMS and Dominic New of MUN matched zeros for 8 innings. In the bottom of the ninth with Chesley still in, Brauers 1B Santiago Greene hit a ground ball up the middle that Tony Ortiz could not handle. Ortiz is normally a 1B but had moved to second in the 8th inning after Jarrod Barclay pinch hit for regular 2B Javier Ruiz. The next batter C Pedro Martinez doubled in Greene for the walk off win. This loss was heartbreaking, to say the least. Amsterdam got some measure of revenge in the final game of the series when they beat the Brauers 10-2. Ironically, 2B Javier Ruiz hit a home run in that final game.

In what was anticipated to be the toughest series of the year so far against the Belfast Northstars, the Neptunes stepped up to win 3 of 4, with the bats and arms both shining. The series was highlighted by the game on the 18th, in which Amsterdam smacked 4 home runs, one each from Barclay, Marceau Dubois, Manny Silva, and Hippolyte Lecomte.

The sim wrapped up with a 6-9 loss at home against the Rome Raiders in the first game of a quick 2 game set. SP Tim MacPhater took the loss allowing 5 runs in only 4 innings of work.
