Red Light District 2025.2 - Season Revs Up, Neps Choose Lane

Post by Lane » Tue Feb 02, 2016 8:41 pm

With the 2025 EBA season underway, GM duties for the Neptunes have been handed over to Stephen Lane. Hailing from Los Angeles, USA, Lane makes the jump across the pond to head this storied franchise. Lane hopes to return the franchise to it's glory days of the aughts and teens where Amsterdam was a perennial playoff threat and three time EBA champion. The team has not seen the playoffs since the championship year of 2016, and has placed third for six consecutive seasons.

With a clubhouse led by the likes of Hippolyte Lecomte and Edgardo Jaso the 2025 season looks promising for the Neptunes. Off to a 16-15 start in what is shaping up to be a crowded Eastern Alliance, new GM Lane feels like the team can compete for the championship: "I really like the look of this team, there was some good work done in the offseason and we feel we have the talent and depth to start an EBA dynasty." Lane also remarked that he is pleased with the balance of veteran presents presence and young guns like Russ Ray and Manny Silva. The enthusiasm for the 2025 sesason is not only evident in Lane's statements, but in attendance figures as well. The team has seen over a 100% increase in attendance this year and are currently 1st in the EBA. This is absolutely due to the excitement surrounding the team's hot start and new GM, and not at all due to the 41% drop in ticket prices from 2024.

Looking forward to next week, the Neptunes will attempt to complete a sweep of secure the series win against the Paris Patriots before they head to Munich for three games against the Eastern cellar-dwelling Brauers. Following the inevitable sweep of the lowly Brauers, the Neptunes travel back home for a four game set against the Western leading Belfast Northstars. That series is sure to be a test of Amsterdam's ability to compete this season with the Northstars currently sporting a record of 19-12.

Surely the EBA and all of the MBWBA are anxious to see how Stephen Lane manages his new team. Will he fire all of the staff that was put in place just one month ago? Trade away all aging players to begin a rebuild? Follow in the management footsteps of the legendary Dave Stewart and trade away all young stars for seemingly no reason? Or perhaps he is a quirky GM who prefers to hoard all players and never make any trade, ever.

Only time will tell, but we suspect that just as in Amsterdam, you never know what will happen next.

Absolutely! I was definitely sincere about that, I think the team is in good shape and I did read your free agent recap. Thank you very much.

Oh did I say that out loud? I guess I probably killed my chances of ever getting an MBBA team.
