2024.Madrid.01 - Matadors Celebrate New GM With Nine-Game St
July 1, 2024
Current Record: 56-26, 1st in Western Alliance
8.5 Games up
---
After floundering over the past two weeks, one may be inclined to say that the Madrid Matadors have been rejuvenated by the appearance of their new GM. Upon upstart newbie Ron Collins taking the hot seat, the team ripped of a scintillating streak of 9 straight victories, including a 4-game sweep of the hapless London franchise, and a 3-game destructive swath through Rome.
The team scored 48 runs in the nine games while allowing only 17.
"We needed this," said 23-year-old starter Bailey Attoehow, who beat both London and Rome in the streak before dropping a 3-4 loss at Belfast. "We had gotten a little complacent, what with winning the European Cup last year and having a bit of a pad this year. Ron came in and reminded us that we needed to strive for excellence every day."
"We have the best pitching staff in Europe, hands down," Collins said. "We lead the division in OBP.. There's no reason we should be only a few games up in the standings." At 56-26, Madrid extended its lead over Munchen from 5.5 to 8.5 games during the streak.
The front office gave no direct indication of whether there would be any huge shake-up in the near future, though Collins has been said to be keeping an electrified cattle prod in his office in case "motivation" is necessary. "My grandfather always said there wasn't nothing a little shock to the ass-end couldn't cure," he said when asked about the implement. "It's an antique."

Good thing you took care of playing London prior to my arrival. I am a king over there. 2005 all over again baby... looking forward to a budding bromance over in the EBA Ron!

I was wondering if this subforum is the place for all of the EBA stuff. It would be nice to have our own section.aaronweiner wrote:Good team choice!

Nice start.
I'd root for you if you were Barcelona instead of Madrid.
