2019, Notable MBBA Defectors to EBA (through 12/31/18)

Through December 31, 2018:

Longtime New Orleans Crawdads outfielder Monte Perry has made the jump to the EBA, joining the Munchen Brauers. At one time the Crawdads has high hopes for Perry, but he never reached his peak 2013 season totals again, serving as a part time player the last couple of years. Lots of promise resulted in a largely disappointing career .279 average over his eleven years with New Orleans.

Mack Milholm was one of the MBBA's workhorse starting pitchers for years and years. Over a eighteen year MBBA career spent largely with Greenville, he started 445 games en route to a 182-164 career record. Last year with Birmingham it was clear he wasn't the Mack Milholm of old, but through smoke and mirrors still managed to win 10 games, finishing with double digit wins for the eleventh time in his career. Now, he'll join the Paris Patriots to try and extend his career at age 37.

Two years ago, slugging outfielder Kyle Stanley was an MBBA All-Star and one of the building blocks to the Baltimore/Brooklyn rebuild. Fast forward to the 2018 season- scouts noted his contact had slipped a little bit and the results were atrocious: .197/.241/.349/.591 with just 24 homers and a whopping 199 whiffs. Now, Stanley waves goodbye to the struggles of the MBBA and joins the Brauers along with Perry, where he might challenge for records with his powerful bat. Stay tuned, because this storyline will be a lot of fun to watch.

Once upon a time, Mario Pagan was viewed as a building block for the Bandits future pitching staff. He showed a lot of promise in his first full season, 2013, going 12-9 with a 3.43 ERA over 32 starts. Lingering injuries in 2014-2015 were frustrating, and knocked Pagan out of his game. He came back strong to finish 16-4 in 2015, and it looked like he might be getting back on track. But, from 2016-2018, he never had an ERA lower than 5.29. At age 28, he now finds himself in exile with the Belfast Northstars needing to resurrect his career. What a shame.

Wow, monte perry. Not long ago he was a lead off man for a title team.

Me too. One of my favorite things to do is check out the EBA for former stars.

Looks like dumping Milholms salary was alright.

3 of the 4 came up through the craw dads organization. We'll miss Perry in CF. he took alot of injuries late in his career (seems to be a trend in CF here...see tipper Kengos), but his defense was outstanding.

Stanley was a throw in on a trade with Omaha, who i then flipped Las Vegas for a one year 3B rental (Huerta). I knew Stanley had power, it i never thought he would fully develop it.I guess I was wrong. We lost this deal.

And Pagan was a big peice in the trade that brought Jared Davis and Mike Glover to New Orleans. Davis has been a stud, but glover flamed out pretty quickly here and is now a free agent again. Id say this trade was about even, or maybe slightly in New Orleans favor.
