The Vancouver Mounties finished the 2045 Brewster Season at 74-88, 16 GB of the Long Beach Surfers in the Frick League Pacific Division. The Mounties played before 2,998,480 fans good for a 37,018 per game average. Vancouver was 51-47 against the Pacific Division while struggling to a 23-41 record against the Heartland. The Mounties were 32-43 after the All Star break.

STARTERS-

Miguel Ayala was the workhorse for the Mounties staff putting up 201 innings. He was 11-11 with a 4.43 ERA, 154 Ks and a 3.6 WAR. Ayala jumped from the 114th ranked pitcher in the BBA to #50 at the end of the season. The upcoming 2046 season looks as if it might be the breakout year for Ayala.

Angel Romero and Gustavo Hernandez made 31 starts each with Romero going 8-12 and Hernandez going 9-14. Romero finished the season ranked #79 and Hernandez ranked #111.

The young Jose Torres may get a chance in 2046 to make an impact for the Mounties. He may work out of the ‘pen and start a few games. He has good stuff but can walk some batters and give up some homers. Expect him to be worked in slowly.

RELIEVERS-

The bullpen will ride on the arms of two 25 year olds, Raul Garcia and Angel Herrera. Herrera is coming off a torn PCL and missed the entire 2045 season. Garcia had the bulk of the work late in games pitching 141 innings. He was 2-10 with 30 saves, a 4.60 ERA, 157 Ks and posted a 2.6 WAR.

Garcia projection 104 IP 106 HA 51 ER 15 HR 31 BB 106 K 4.43 ERA 9.2 K/9 2.7 BB/9 1.3 HR/9 1.32 WHIP 3.92 FIP

CATCHERS-

The Mounties deploy a pair of catchers that put ability and defense over hitting. Vancouver platoons Etienne Kop and Mario Rivera to work with their young starters. These catchers are young and need some time to work with the staff to lower the walks per nine.

INF-

Brad Parkinson has struggled through his first 2 plus seasons posting -2.4 WAR over 239 games in the BBA.

Angel De Castillo is the old man that leads the infield group. Last season he slashed .254/.357/.398 with 22 homers and 81 RBI. He will face some competition for the starting role from the young Francisco Martinez. Martinez played just 15 games last season but hit 5 homers, drove in 13 runs while hitting .368. He got on base at a .429 clip and posted 1 WAR in that short time.

De Castillo projection 597 PA 518 AB 66 R 129 H 18 Doubles 2 Triples 21 HR 57 BB 107 K 3 SB .248/.312/.410

OF-

The outfield is led by Jeffrey Smith and Fernando Castillo. Castillo flexed his muscles in 2045 bashing 39 homers and drove in 123 runs. He slashed .348/.419/.595 and posted a 6.5 WAR. Smith hit 37 homers and had 123 RBI. He slashed .314/.380/.569 and posted 5.4 WAR.

Castillo projection 630 PA 545 AB 99 R 170 H 25 Doubles 6 Triples 29 HR 48 BB 82 K 27 SB .312/.346/.537

Smith projection 621 PA 545 AB 87 R 164 H 33 Doubles 4 Triples 31 HR 48 BB 91 K 15 SB .301/.342/.549

CONCLUSION-

With the young players taking the forefront in Vancouver they will make their mark in 2046. The Pacific Division will have a change at the top of the standing with the improving teams such as Vancouver and San Fernando.

PREDICTION-

The Mounties will finish 82-80 and fall short of a wild card.

Great preview! A lot of prospects will be coming up this season so anything above 74 wins is a win for me. 2040 was when I had my first batch of good prospects come up and I finished that year 82-80. In 2041 we were 97-65. Maybe history will repeat itself in 2046 and 2047.
