Was anyone shocked by Cole? Anyone have someone else at the top of their board?

Who's next though, that's the question....

Agreed. Next one isnt as obvious though, at least not for me. There are a few guys and a few options but its just hard to guess. I've got 3 guys loaded and ready to go though we'll be quick no matter what Geoff does.

I’d have loved to go for some position players but there just wasn’t anybody to touch Cole

If you need help trading that #1 overall pick, let me know. I've got plenty of recent experience, to include a knuckleballer.

Yeah he's the guy. I could of bought you taking Tatlock or Geauxinue given your lack of top up the middle talent but Cole is a beast.

Not sure what your plan is for him, but I wouldn't rush him up even though he is basically ready unless you really think he can push you into the playoffs. Let him get some innings at AA/AAA before figuring out what your team is this year. Still too early to determine if they'll hang in there or not.

I think the only way he gets any BBA time this year is if we’re a complete shambles this year and I desperately need wins to prop up falling FI. Other than that, as you say, he can do the AA/AAA route as my current crop of rookies have done. Where he is in 2046 really depends on him & his results to some extent, but also on what my current rotation has done. It’s looking though as if there might be a couple of spots up for grabs if they carry on pitching like they are. Maybe one FA if I can get a decent vet and Cole?
We shall see . . .

I think it would be a real kings ransom if I were to even consider trading Cole, he’s looking like a generational pitcher. Of course if he fails off the cliff I know who to look for to dispose of him ;)

It was really hard to not only sort out the financial hole but also to try and get some talent in at the same time. There’s still a long way to go, there’s not a lot of talent in the system and Cole, although a beast, won’t really help overall. He might add 10 wins over a current rotation member but he needs the supporting cast which is what I haven’t got at the moment. If the results keep coming and the crowd stays up around the 40,000 average the finances will be enough to be a player in the FA market, not necessarily for the #1 ranked guys but for the ones that will upgrade the foot soldiers that I currently have to field. I hope I can push onwards if I can upgrade two or three positions next year with solid players rather than the 45-50 rated guys that I have now

Cole is a perfect example of why draft position matters.
