Re: 2029 Brewster Expansion Draft
Should I be proud to be the second team to lose its max number of players? I'm not sure Troy Preston's a good pick. He's old for a prospect and I've been waiting for him to develop the last two points of stuff for EVER. He's also only (5)7/(6)7/7 as a starter, with the motion being just barely seven most likely. I thing this is a crazy bad take by Edmonton at 5. There are actual big league players still available at this point, and it's not like cap space is a problem for the expansionees.
Ruben Flores deserves a trial. He was once 6/8/9/6/6 and got to 6/8/9/7/6 with good speed at 1st before two wrist injuries lumped him to a AAAA player. If he can get a little bump back to his former potentials, he's a nice lefty half of a platoon at first. But still, why gamble on a guy who currently has a AAAA ceiling when there are big leaguers left? You have to get butts in the seat somehow.
Nathaniel Snow has been unexpectedly good for me as a starter, but has slowly been losing stuff for a couple years now. I have two more starters on the way, so getting the 6 mil salary of my number 5 guy off the books is nice. Give him an infield defense and Phoenix has a real nice pickup. If he doesn't decline, he's probably not too tough to extend a year or two either.
Fernando Pena is another nice little grab. He's been a league average reliever for me (albeit in a pitching heavy division) for some time now. He's also seen his stuff dwindle in recent years, but should be able to stick on a big league roster. Popular too.

Re: 2029 Brewster Expansion Draft
Exactly why I took him. Hopefully he'll be a little better than league average, but he's popular and cheap. If he's league average, he was worth the pick.Ted wrote:Fernando Pena is another nice little grab. He's been a league average reliever for me (albeit in a pitching heavy division) for some time now. I'm a bit sad about losing him from a popularity standpoint, but I've got youngsters that need to start getting playing time.bcslouck wrote:Exactly why I took him. Carter, Snow, Ssempa, Nunns, Heijnen. If Phoenix picks up one of the bigger free agent pitchers, they would have a pretty respectable rotation.

Re: 2029 Brewster Expansion Draft
I can definitely live with losing Trevino. Almost didn't offer him arbitration.

Yeah but you have to win some games before then if you don't want him coming up on a team with no fan loyalty, no fan interest, and no revenue.Chey wrote:My franchise player is sixteen years old, I'm not in a panic about Opening Day 2029.Ted wrote:Should I be proud to be the second team to lose its max number of players? Re: 2029 Brewster Expansion Draft
Is there any restrictions on the expansion teams trading guys from the dispersal draft or expansion draft? Just curious as there might be some deals to be had post draft.

Since it looks like we aren't getting this done tonight, you will be simming it right? If so, can I make a request on how I'd like remaining picks?recte44 wrote:Nope

I agree. But I'm about to head out for about 2 hours so I don't know if I'll be able to get one in tonight. If he does the sim in the am, I'm all about it.

Right. I'm fine with making a list and auto firm there. But if he's gonna auto tonight, I won't have time to. That's why I wanted to make a request.
