Ugh... I'm going to decline. Nearly 5M in the last year of the deal - probably right when I need the cap space most to keep my young studs.

Mendez getting $19 million in arbitration is obscene. Shows the dangers of big expensive EBA contracts since the only reason he makes that much is because of his rule 6 deal from Omaha. The $19,090,909 contract looks like the arbiter took Mendez's side of the arbitration discussion, but the league should draw and quarter the arbiter. Anyone know what the Brooklyn offer was?Bobby_Manc wrote: . . . If you take Mendez's arbie £19 mill out of the equation (received before I took over, don't understand how that's justified and he won't be getting that again lol) . . .

I mean, the player gives you a general idea of what he wants in arb with the first number next to his name. When you see a fungible #6/LR pitcher asking for >15M as an initial demand you're well within your right (and sanity) to simply decline.

I really don't like back-loaded deals like that, but I figured it would be the cheapest relative way to get you to walk away.agrudez wrote:Ugh... I'm going to decline. Nearly 5M in the last year of the deal - probably right when I need the cap space most to keep my young studs.
Sorry pal, I needed an EBA win after my other failures.
