Seattle Picks Up Top Talent in R5D!

Neglected star first-baseman,
Jamie "Wrench" Farrell, has been long awaiting his return to the MBWBA for the past three years. After posting a career batting average of .303 and a .387 OBP in 2289 career at-bats, Farrell was assigned to the Triple-A
Washington Senators in the
Baltimore Monarchs organization. At the moment he signed that minor-league contract with Baltimore, he was unaware that he had just entered into his own version of the twilight zone - a superstar, trapped in the minor leagues, with no escape, during what should have been the prime years of his baseball career.
Today, 'Wrench' was at last set free by the Seattle Storm, who selected him with the 6th overall pick in the 2006 Rule 5 Draft. Now at 32 years old, Jamie will be given a fresh start as a professional baseball player -- likely becoming the starting first baseman in Seattle.
Last Season Statistics: Washington (AAA): 449 AB, .316 AVG, .407 OBP, .859 OPS

I always thought he should be playing in the bigs.
He could never beat out Black or now Lubin/Butieprez but was a nice insurance policy for the Monarchs.

I got 30hr/100rbi* man
Felix Mendoza in the Rule 5 from Baltimore. Another one of his first basemen.
Which is also why I returned Vanega to Vegas -- couldn't keep both all season.
(* had he played the whole season)

The best part? He hardly cost me a dime.

I remember this. With this one I had managed to get Felix, who was a free agent, to sign a minor league contract on 11/29/2003. The very next sim (12/01/2003) he was picked by Hawaii in the Rule 5 draft. I had already went through my system a couple sims before to protect guys I wanted to keep and completely forgot about Felix. At the time he was still pretty undeveloped so I was hoping he would get sent back but Hawaii was in rebuilding mode so didn't mind keeping him on the active roster all year.

Surprised you didn't end up using Farrell as trade-bait, especially when he was a little younger.

Hit an empty .290, and finished with a negative VORP and WAR.
This is why he hasn't been in the big leagues since 2003
