Bikini Adds Roster Depth
VETERAN VOWS BIG THINGS VOMING
April 27, 2065: BIKINI ATOLL— The often outrageous Wilson Prieto show has pulled into Bikini. Or, to be more precise, Pasco. The 31-year-old agreed to a minor league deal earlier this week, that includes a option for free agency if the club doesn’t activate him to the parent club by late June…or whenever.

Once A Standout,
Can He Do It Again? “Wilson needed to hit a baseball again,” Prieto said when asked why, after holding out all off-season, he accepted a minor league deal. Until then he’d been back on his Texas Ranch hitting off a custom-built pitching machine that he calls “My Wullenweber Bash-O-Matic. I’m ready to play now. If I can hit off Old Wooly, I can hit off anyone.”
Apparently, those around the game aren’t quite so confident.
Which makes some sense when one looks at recent numbers, because after a splash as big as his ego as a bonus baby draftee in Brooklyn that included a breakout 31 HR, 5 WAR season in 2-58, things have not gone quite so well—meaning that he pretty much played himself out of baseball while with Atlantic City..
“Wilson got beat up bad in the A. T. C.,” Prieto said. “No lie detected there. But it’s hard to do numbers when you’re hurt like I was hurtin’ and the press there ain’t nothin’ but trashy all day long. Wilson didn’t like that.”
Assistant GM Monica Green was clear about the team’s position with the signing. “No one questions that Wilson Prieto can do magic on a baseball field when he’s in the right place. He’s a five-tool player, and if we learned anything last year it’s that depth in the organization never hurts. We know his past, but we’ve got a great culture going on here, and we also know no one works harder than he does. We’re happy to give him an opportunity. What he does with it is up to him, but we wouldn’t open the door if we didn’t think he could walk through it.”
She explained that Prieto will report to Pasco to get reps in and so the team can further assess his preparedness and fitness level.
“Don’t worry none about Wilson,” Prieto said. “Wilson will be back doing Wilson things real soon.”
