PROTECTIVE ACTION WANTED NOW!
April 16, 2063 Earth Fans of the Earth's Team gathered today in coffee houses and independent boutiques around the globe to voice concerns that Bikini Krill pitcher Arturo Meza might have been exposed to Sam Nebraska disease, and to express fears that it be stamped out now to avoid further contagion.

First 2063 Outings"We've seen it before," said Pressie Danner, a barista and avid reader of old-timey texts, who lives in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. "It stars as a rash on the ERA and then spreads out to every stat on the board. Next thing you know the guy breaks out in low K-rates, a heavy homer's cough, and a BB-rate that's dribbling base runners from every orifice. Not pretty, I tell you. It's got to be stopped now."
The conversation is enough to make any Krill fan shudder as memories of watching top-end starter Samuel Nebraska falter to a 7.75 ERA in 105 innings back in 2059 before being cured through a trade to Las Vegas (where he went 4-2 and posted a 2.30 ERA in his next 43 innings. And admittedly, the conversation is valid. The 30-year-old Meza carried a 105-98 career record into the opening of 2063, with a career ERA of 4.39. He's allowed roughly 1.2 HR/9 in his past, and struck out 6.8. Not ace material, but those are the numbers of a solid, upper-tier starter.
After three starts, Meza's numbers are enough to make a stoic consider Xanax.
See what we mean? Very much Not Good.
"The Long Beach start from tonight doesn't count," Danner said while dosing his latte with a bottle of some undetermined liquor. "Everyone beats Long Beach."
The Krill front office declined to respond to the concerns, noting only that "we understand sample size."
"Sample this," responded Megan Mears, a VR repair tech in Barcelona, who carried a sign that read "Save the Staff! Trade Mezza Now!," and carried the merged portraits of Mezza and Nebraska into a single frame.
