First Baseman To Compete For Job
November 15, 2062, Marshall Islands After working his way through stints at A-ball Lake City and AA-Kamloops, 22-year-old starter Nelson Williams makes no bones about his goal for 2063. "I want to pitch on the atoll," he said upon returning to his adopted home of Acapulco, where his girlfriend runs a high-end performance art gallery. "I know what I need to do, and I'm going to do it."
It's music to the Krill's front office's (and fans of Earth's Team's) ears.

Gilstrom Candidate?Despite rough external numbers in Lake City (1-6, 4.97), the FIP and FIP- numbers were strong enough to support promotion, where 78 AA innings saw him register a 7-3 record and a 3.22 ERA. Most pundits suspect he will spend a season in AAA, but with John Brown having left for free agencyand with elder rookies Herman Deckard and Steve Truss having left open questions in their time with the parent club, it makes some sense that the club would be looking for other options. And, to be fair, Williams, who was a 5th round pick in 2061, has impressed the team's scouts.
Being Bypassed for Pain Island Irks
Friends and family close to Williams have been saying that the lefty's motivation was spiked when he learned that the club had bypassed him as a candidate for one of the coveted billets for the Pain Island development focus, noting that he's already rented an isolated tool shed in Acapulco's isolated zones, and begun working to build his own development facility.
"He's spending hours and hours in there, making virtual vids of his motion and throwing balls against a wall," one friend said. "He's all work and no play."
