Ace Opts Out, Gives Krill New Numbers

Brown Era Over?November 7, 2062, Marshall Islands > On the heels of news that Felix Vidaca would be testing the free agent waters, Krill ace Jon Brown's agent (also Bertie "The Squirty" Myers, of SPREAD'EM WIDE, Inc) informed the team that his client was planning to execute his option to enter the free agent portal, but that Brown was open to "any wild, extravagant offer" the Krill's front office would like to make. "I love the smell of desperation in the morning," Myers said in a late-night interview. "It tastes like money."
Insiders to the situation are saying that Brown--who has been the team's top pitcher since being acquired for the stretch run in 2059--is looking for at least $12M per year for at least four seasons in order to forego what, as he'll be 35 next season, would likely be his window. Brown was 10-12 this season, and posted a 3.83 ERA.
As of this morning, the team's front office is not commenting on negotiations, but does not sound optimistic about the club's ace returning. The silver lining here is that, like Vidaca before him, if Brown were to leave and sign with another team, the Krill would be in line to acquire second round supplemental draft picks.
"We'll be exploring all our options over the next few days and make whatever deal seems to make the most sense," said GM Ron Collins.
