61.102– Fiscus Unhappy With Klub’s Klinching

Manager Takes Issues to the Press

September 22, 2061: HAWAII – The Bikini Krill clinched their second postseason slot in the past three seasons tonight, but first year manager Kate Fiscus (or, to get technical, clone of Kate Fiscus) pulled no punches. This is because her team lost to Hawaii in a lackluster game that saw the Krill outscored 4-3. It was the Krill Klub’s third straight loss to a team that, let’s face it, isn’t going anywhere this year.

Fiscus Threatens To
Lay The Law Down
“To back into a slot is unprofessional," a fiery Fiscus said after the game. "We can’t have this kind of approach and expect to win anything. The guys just don’t want to hit, it seems to me. So we see unserious at-bats after unserious at bats.” She was clearly trying to hold back anger that kept bubbling to the surface.

The team scattered eight hits tonight, and walked only one time. This after being 1-hit by Semhi Gurani the night before.

“The guys are in there celebrating their post season checks right now, and I’ll let them have that moment. But we’re going to have a hard talk in a little bit. I’ve been around championship teams. This is not how a championship team makes their way into a Silly PET.” Fiscus rolled her eyes while using the nickname “Silly Postseason Exhibition Tournament” that this franchise seems to have enforced on members of the organization. “I’m not sure what it’s going to take to get them back into the mindset of executing every moment of the game, but I’ll be working to find out.”

Fiscus, a product of multi-trillionaire futurist’s clone lab, took over the team this season after Richard Lawson failed to get the Krill over the hump in 2060. As such, she the league's first cloned manager as well as first female manager. She's had a tumultuous season at times, making occasionally odd decisions--though, in generally more have work out than haven't. She’s made it understood even in her earliest days that her primary motivation was to beat Portland, a goal that was likely a result of her genetic ties to the woman who was at one time the Lumberjack’s assistant GM, among other things. As fates have it, the club is currently tied with the Lumberjacks in the seasonal ranks, and it would appear that they will be the Krill’s opponent in the Geoghegan Round.

Some are suggesting it would be in the team’s best interest to finish behind Portland simply because their stadium is bigger than the Krill’s Forever Park, and that could result in more revenue for the series. Given the team is running on currency fumes, every dollar could count.

“That really doesn’t matter to me,” Fiscus said, clenching her fists. “We’ve got to finish higher than them.”

I really wish I had more time this year to follow this whole story line. And man, how great would a Portland-Bikini first round matchup have been....
